9. Report dated November 4, 2008 from the General Manager of Infrastructure Services regarding Traffic Calming Policy.

(ELECTRONIC PRESENTATION) (RECOMMENDATION PREPARED)
(The City of Greater Sudbury has retained IBI Group to prepare a Traffic Calming Policy to reduce the negative impacts of motor vehicle traffic.

The overall objective of this study is to develop a formal Traffic Calming Policy for the City of Greater Sudbury. This Policy details the goals and objectives of traffic calming, the planning process and a list of acceptable measures with guidelines for their implementation.

Greater Sudbury's Policy contains its own traffic calming warrant that allows the City to score, rank and prioritize traffic calming requests. This process quantifies the perceived problems and ensures that all sites are evaluated against the same set of criteria and that traffic calming measures can be applied first and foremost to those locations that receive the highest scores.

This report was discussed by the Traffic Committee who are recommending that the Traffic Calming Policy be approved.)
