5.1

Greater Sudbury Museums Revitalization Plan

• The following resolution was presented:

  That the City of Greater Sudbury approves the Terms of Reference for a new Greater Sudbury Museums Advisory Panel, and directs staff to proceed with recruitment of potential members for review and appointment by the incoming Council for the 2022-2026 Term.

• Rules of Procedure

  Councillor Landry-Altmann presented the following amendment:

  Moved By Councillor Landry-Altmann
  Seconded By Councillor Leduc

  That Resolution 1 be amended by deleting the full text and replacing it with the following:

  That the City of Greater Sudbury approves the establishment of a combined Museums/Heritage Advisory Panel and directs staff to develop a draft Terms of Reference for this new advisory panel, including considerations for heritage designation, museums programming and cultural heritage representation, and heritage tourism opportunities, and 

  FURTHER, that the draft Terms of Reference be presented to Council for approval by the end of January 2023.

  THAT the City of Greater Sudbury directs staff to prepare a Business Case for consideration in the 2023 budget process that includes:

  1. Additional staff resources for Museum Services, increased maintenance and operational funds;
  2. Additional resources for facilities maintenance, Museum operations and modernization of online presence.

     All as outlined in the report from the Chief Administrative Officer, November 8, 2022.

• Nominations were held to appoint members to the Museums and Heritage Advisory Panel

  The following members accepted their nomination to the Museums and Heritage Advisory Panel;

  Councillor Landry-Altmann

  Councillor Vagnini

  Councillor Labbée

  Councillor Fortin

  There being no further nominations, nominations were closed.

  The following resolution was presented:

  Moved By Councillor Leduc
  Seconded By Councillor Sizer

  THAT the City of Greater Sudbury appoints Councillors: Landry-Altmann, Vagnini, Labbée and Fortin to the Museums and Heritage Advisory Panel for the term ending November 14, 2026.

2023 Business Case Report

• The following resolution was presented:

  CC2022-294
  Moved By Councillor Lapierre
  Seconded By Councillor Leduc

  THAT the business cases presented in ‘Appendix 1’ of the report entitled ‘2023 Business Case Report’ from the General Manager of Corporate Services, presented at the Special City Council meeting on November 30, 2022, be presented for consideration during the 2023 budget deliberation process.
